Rani Rampal, Former India Women's Hockey Team Captain and Padma Shri Awardee, Announces Retirement from Hockey.


      - Hockey India honors Rani Rampal’s remarkable contributions by retiring her iconic No.28 jersey.

      - The Indian Railways' Modern Coach Factory Stadium in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, was renamed "Rani’s Girls" in her honor.

      - Rani was named "Best Young Player of the Tournament" at the 2010 Women’s Hockey World Cup and "Player of the Tournament" at the 2013 Junior World Cup, where India won its first-ever bronze medal in the event.

Main Points:-   (i) Rani Rampal, from Haryana, made her international debut in 2008. She scored 205 goals in 254 matches for India.

      (ii) The Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri Award for sports in 2020 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (now Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award) in 2020.

(iii) She received the Arjuna Award in 2016 and the World Games Athlete of the Year award in 2019.
