China Launches Three Tianping-3 Satellites into Orbit.

On 22nd October 2024, China successfully launched three Tianping-3 satellites from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province using a Long March-6 carrier rocket, placing the satellites into their designated orbit.

  • - The three launched satellites are Tianping-3A (01), В (01), and B (02) satellites.
  • - This mission marked the 13th launch of the Long March 6 model and China's 50th space launch of the year. It also marked the 541st flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.

  • (i) The satellites will primarily be used for calibrating ground radar equipment and measuring radar cross sections.
  • (ii) The satellites will support imaging tests for ground optical equipment, conduct detection and monitoring tests of the low-orbit space environment, and provide services for atmospheric space environment surveys and corrections to orbit prediction models.
