      - The report states that India's government spending on education has ranged between 13.5% and 17.2% from 2015 to 2024.

      - The report also points out that globally, the average public expenditure on education has declined since 2010, from 13.2% in 2010 to 12.5% in 2020, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Main Points:-   (i) The report highlighted that India's expenditure on education is higher than that of countries like Japan and China when compared to the overall Asia region.

(ii) According to UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report 2024, since the adoption of the UN SDG on education in 2015, over 110 million children and youth have enrolled in school.

(iii) Despite this progress, the out-of-school population has decreased by only 1% during the same period, with 251 million children and youth still not attending school.
