Indian female archer Deepika Kumari has secured a silver medal in the women’s recurve event at the Tlaxcala 2024 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final, held in Tlaxcala, Mexico, on October 19-20, 2024. This achievement marks her 6th medal at the World Cup Finals and her 9th appearance in the finals.


      - China’s Li Jiaman clinched the gold medal.

      - The 18th edition of the Archery World Cup was hosted by World Archery.

     

Main Points:-   (i) Deepika Kumari defeated Yang Xiaolei of China 6-0 in the quarter-finals and Mexico’s Alejandra Valencia 6-4 in the semi-finals.

      (ii) Her past achievements include four silver medals (2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015) and one bronze (2018) at the World Cup Finals. Notably, Dola Banerjee is the only Indian to have won a gold in the World Cup Final, achieved in Dubai, UAE, in 2007.

(iii) The Indian team, consisting of five archers (three in compound and two in recurve), concluded the tournament with one silver medal.
