Indian Navy's fourth anti-submarine warfare craft 'Amini' launched

'Amini', the fourth in the series of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) projects built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) for the Indian Navy, was launched at Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu, about 400 km west of Kochi. The ship has been named 'Amini' to reflect the strategic maritime importance given to Amini Island in Lakshadweep. The 77 meter long ASW SWC ships with a displacement of 900 tonnes have a maximum speed of 25 knots and an endurance of approximately 1800 nmi. The third ship of this class was launched on June 13, 2023 at L&T, Kattupalli. The first ship of the project is planned to be delivered in early 2024. It said the ASW SWC ships will have more than 80 per cent indigenous content, ensuring that large-scale defense production will be executed by Indian manufacturing units, thereby There will be increase in employment and capacity within the country. ​
