The United Nations (UN) observes Disarmament Week annually, beginning from 24 October, the anniversary of the UN's founding, to raise awareness about disarmament initiatives aimed at promoting international peace and security.


      - Disarmament Week is observed from 24-30 October.

     

     

Main Points:-   In 1978, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution A/RES/S-10/2 (The Final Document of the 10th Special Session of the UNGA), declaring the week starting on 24 October, the UN's foundation day, as a time dedicated to promoting disarmament objectives.
