Eminent Physicist and Padma Shri Awardee Rohini Godbole Dies at 71.

Dr. Rohini Godbole, a distinguished physicist known for her remarkable contributions to both science and the promotion of gender equality, passed away at the age of 71 in Bengaluru, Karnataka.


      - With an exceptional academic career, she made significant advancements in elementary particle physics and was a strong advocate for women in science.

      - Born in Pune, Maharashtra in 1952, Dr. Godbole’s academic journey began at Sir Parashurambhau (SP) College in Pune, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, where she earned the institute's prestigious silver medal.

      - Dr. Godbole also contributed to accelerator design at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Main Points:-   For her outstanding contributions, Dr. Godbole received the Padma Shri in 2019, the Ordre national du Mérite (French National Order of Merit) in 2021, and Karnataka's Lifetime Achievement Award in Science and Technology.
