World Osteoporosis Day (WOD), observed annually on 20th October, is a global awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of osteoporosis and raising awareness about its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, along with metabolic bone diseases.


      - The WOD campaign is a global initiative supported by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF).

      - World Osteoporosis Day was initially launched in 1996 by the United Kingdom's National Osteoporosis Society, with support from the European Commission. The first-ever WOD was observed on 20th October 1996.

     

Main Points:-   The theme and message for the 2024 campaign is "Say no to fragile bones.
