Karnataka Launches 'Shiksha Copilot,' an AI Assistant Designed to Empower Teachers with Technology.

The Government of Karnataka has introduced 'Shiksha Copilot,' a new AI-powered digital assistant designed to support teachers in creating lesson plans and enhancing student learning outcomes. It was launched by Madhu Bangarappa, Karnataka’s Minister of School Education and Literacy.


      - This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Sikshana Foundation and Microsoft Research India.

      - Shiksha Copilot is a generative AI tool designed to assist teachers in creating lesson plans with activities, videos, and quizzes that are customized to local curriculums.

     

Main Points:-   (i) It is a collaborative project between the Sikshana Foundation and Microsoft Research India, as part of Project VeLLM (Very Large Language Model), a Microsoft Research India initiative that develops specialized AI tools for users, including teachers and farmers.

      (ii) Shiksha Copilot helps teachers manage multi-grade classrooms with diverse needs by generating personalized content and aligning with the 5Es model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate).
