According to the latest report from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), more than 1.15 million children across India’s 27 states and 7 Union Territories (UTs) were found to be "vulnerable" to child marriage in 2023-24.

  • - Most of these vulnerable children are girls who have either dropped out of school or have been irregular or absent for a long time without notifying the authorities.
