The Regional Connectivity Scheme, Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik, has successfully completed eight years.

On 21st October 2024, the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - UDAN (which stands for "Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik") celebrated its 8th anniversary. This scheme, led by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), has been serving the nation since it was launched on 21st October 2016.


      - RCS UDAN was introduced as a key part of India’s National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP) 2016, established by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) with a 10-year plan.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) October 21, 2024, marks the 8th anniversary of RCS UDAN, originally launched on October 21, 2016.

      (ii) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first RCS-UDAN flight, connecting Shimla and Delhi, on April 27, 2017.

(iii) The Government of India (GoI) has allocated ₹4,500 crores for airport development under the UDAN scheme, with ₹3,751 crores utilized since the scheme's launch in 2016.
