Indian Chess Grandmaster (GM) Arjun Erigaisi won the Wadim Rosenstein (WR) Chess Masters Cup 2024 by defeating French GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in an Armageddon tiebreaker.


      - The WR Chess Masters Cup 2024, organized by entrepreneur Wadim Rosenstein, took place from October 14 to 18, 2024, at the Langham Hotel in London, United Kingdom (UK).

      - Arjun Erigaisi finished at the top of the tournament with 2,797 points, followed by Nodirbek Abdusattorov from Uzbekistan in second place with 2,783 points, and Alireza Firouzja from France in third place with 2,767 points.

      - Arjun Erigaisi, from Telangana, earned his International Master title in 2017 and his Grandmaster title in 2018 at the age of 14.

Main Points:-   (i) The WR Chess Masters Cup features 16 players in a single-elimination knockout format, with each match consisting of two games.

      (ii) The winner, Arjun Erigaisi, received a cash prize of €20,000. The second-place holder received €10,000, and the third-place holder received €5,000.

(iii) Arjun Erigaisi has become the second Indian, after Viswanathan Anand, to reach a 2800 Elo rating.
