Tata Steel CEO TV Narendran was elected chairman of the World Steel Association for 2024-25.

Thachat Viswanath (TV) Narendran, the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, has been elected as the Chairman of the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) for the 2024-25 term.


      - He will take over from Leon Topalian, the CEO of Nucor Corporation based in the USA, who was the Chairman for 2023-24.

      - Narendran is the second Indian to hold the position, following Sajjan Jindal, the Chairman of JSW Group, who served as Chairman from 2021-22.

      - TV Narendran joined Tata Steel in 1988 and started in its International Trading Division.

Main Points:-   (i) As Chairman, TV Narendran will oversee important decisions and initiatives that affect the global steel sector.

      (ii) He will also be a member of the 17-member Executive Committee, working alongside other industry leaders.

(iii) Thachat Viswanath (TV) Narendran is also the Senior Vice President of the All India Management Association (AIMA).
