IEA and IIT Delhi sign MoU to advance clean energy technologies and support energy transitions.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on how energy technology innovation can help reduce emissions and support clean energy transitions.


      - It identifies important areas for collaboration, such as analyzing policies to encourage energy innovation.

      - In October 2024, the IEA and IIT Delhi published a joint report titled "Clean Energy Innovation Policies in Emerging and Developing Economies." This report examines the economic opportunities and the role of policy in fostering the growth of the new energy economy in these markets.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The MoU was signed by Fatih Birol, Executive Director of IEA, at the IEA headquarters in Paris, France.

      (ii) Prof. Rangan Banerjee (Director of IIT Delhi) and Ambuj Sagar (Deputy Director for Strategy and Planning, IIT Delhi) signed it remotely.

(iii) The signing took place in the presence of Jawed Ashraf, the Indian Ambassador to France and Monaco.
