Former Indian Wrestler Sakshi Malik Unveils Memoir Titled "Witness".

Sakshi Malik, renowned Indian freestyle wrestler and Olympic bronze medalist, has released her memoir, Witness, co-authored by journalist Jonathan Selvaraj. The memoir provides a heartfelt look into her life, chronicling her struggles, achievements, and unyielding spirit in the wrestling world and beyond.


      - Published by Juggernaut Books, the memoir explores Malik's rise to fame, from her childhood in Rohtak, Haryana, to her journey as a pioneering figure for women in sports.

      - She won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, and the 2017 Commonwealth Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa.

     

Main Points:-   (i) Malik earned a bronze medal in the 58 kg category, becoming India’s first female wrestler to win an Olympic medal.

      (ii) In 2023, she retired from wrestling to protest Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s election to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

(iii) The Government of India awarded her the Arjuna Award in 2016 (Wrestling) and the Padma Shri in 2017 (Sports).
