President Droupadi Murmu’s Key Highlights from Visits to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi.

From October 13 to 19, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu undertook a three-nation tour to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi with the goal of strengthening India’s bilateral ties with these African nations.
- On October 14, 2024, President Murmu was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Political Science by Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University in Algiers.
- The visit was the first-ever visit by the President of India to the three African nations and came a year after the African Union was made a permanent member of G 20 during India's Presidency.
Main Points:- (i) President Murmu held a bilateral meeting with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani on October 16, 2024, and also took part in delegation-level discussions to enhance cooperation.
(ii) In Malawi, she met with President Lazarus Chakwera to further develop the India-Malawi partnership.
(iii) During the visit, President Murmu was accompanied by Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar, and MPs Mukeshkumar Dalal and Atul Garg.
