- IDDRR encourages the implementation of frameworks like the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) for 2015-2030, which focuses on reducing disaster risks and improving global preparedness.
Main Points:- (i) The theme for International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2024 is "Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future."
(ii) In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution A/RES/64/200, officially designating October 13 as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR).
(iii) Since 2010, IDDRR has been observed annually on October 13.
