Paramesh Sivamani has taken over as the 26th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).

Appointment

On October 16, 2024, Paramesh Sivamani took over as the 26th Director General (DG) of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).


      - He has been serving as the acting DG since August 2024, following the death of the former DG, Rakesh Pal.

      - Paramesh Sivamani has been the Additional DG of the ICG since September 2022.

     

Main Points:-   (i) He has commanded all major vessels of the ICG, including the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Samar and OPV Vishwast. He has also led the Eastern and Western Coast Guard Regions.

      (ii) He is recognized as a specialist in Navigation & Direction, which is a crucial area for ensuring maritime safety.

(iii) He has received several awards, including the Tatrakshak Medal (2014), the President's Tatrakshak Medal (2019), the DG Coast Guard Commendation (2012), and the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (East) Commendation (2009).
