"NABARD Releases 2nd All India Rural Financial Inclusion Survey (NAFIS) for 2021-22".

On 9th October 2024, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) released the findings of its 2nd 'All India Rural Financial Inclusion Survey (NAFIS) for 2021-22'. This survey, based on data from 1 lakh rural households, offers key insights into various economic and financial aspects in the post-COVID era.


      - The NAFIS 2021-22 findings highlight significant changes in rural economic and financial indicators since the previous survey conducted in 2016-17.

      - The inaugural NAFIS survey covered the agricultural year 2016-17 (July-June) and was released by NABARD in August 2018.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The average monthly income of rural households has seen a substantial rise of 57.6% over the past 5 years, increasing from Rs 8,059 in 2016-17 to Rs 12,698 in 2021-22.

      (ii) The survey also reveals that the average monthly expenditure of rural households has surged significantly over the last 5 years, from Rs 6,646 in 2016-17 to Rs 11,262 in 2021-22.
