Nayab Singh Saini has taken the oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana for his second term.
Appointment
On 17th October 2024, Nayab Singh Saini took the oath as the Chief Minister (CM) of Haryana during a swearing-in ceremony in Panchkula, marking his second tenure in this role. He previously served as the CM from March 2024 to October 2024 after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
- In addition to the Chief Minister, 13 legislators, including two women, were inducted into the state cabinet.
- The oath of office and secrecy was administered to all of them by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
Main Points:- (i) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), was present during the ceremony.
(ii) The Haryana Assembly elections were held on 5th October 2024, where the BJP won 48 out of 90 seats, marking the party's third consecutive victory in the Haryana State Assembly elections.
(iii) Saini was an MLA from 2014 to 2019, serving as the Minister of State for Labour & Employment and Mines in Haryana. He then served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Kurukshetra from 2019 to 2024.
