World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is celebrated every year on October 10th to raise awareness about mental health issues and encourage support for those affected by them.


      - The annual observance of WMHD is organized by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), which founded this day.

      - This day emphasizes the importance of mental health and aims to foster a supportive environment for individuals facing mental health challenges.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The theme for the UN's WMHD 2024 is "Mental Health at Work."

      (ii) WMHD was initiated as an annual event by WFMH in 1992, led by Richard Hunter, who was the Deputy Secretary General at the time.

(iii) The first WMHD was celebrated on October 10, 1992.
