Colombia has become the 17th country to sign an audio-visual co-production agreement with India.

On 15 October 2024, India and Colombia signed an audio-visual co-production agreement to promote film production cooperation and strengthen cultural ties and goodwill between the two countries. With this, Colombia has become the 17th country to sign such an agreement with India.


      - The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) of the Government of India has been instrumental in promoting these partnerships.

      - The agreement was signed by Dr. Loganathan Murugan, Minister of State (MoS) for MIB of India and Jorge Enrique Rojas Rodriguez, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, in New Delhi.

     

Main Points:-   (i) This agreement allows filmmakers from both countries to share resources, including creative, technical, financial and marketing support, which will benefit producers from India and Colombia.

      (ii) It aims to enhance India's soft power, create jobs in the film industry and attract foreign investment by improving India as a filming destination.

(iii) The agreement provides a clear funding process for film projects and seeks to promote the export of Indian films to Colombia.
