Colombia has become the 17th country to sign an audio-visual co-production agreement with India.

On October 15, 2024, India and Colombia signed an Audio-Visual Co-Production Agreement to boost film production collaboration and strengthen cultural ties and goodwill between the two countries. With this, Colombia becomes the 17th country to sign such an agreement with India.


      - The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) of the Government of India (GoI) has been instrumental in fostering these partnerships.

      - The agreement was signed by Dr. Loganathan Murugan, India's Minister of State (MoS) for MIB, and Jorge Enrique Rojas Rodriguez, Colombia's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, in New Delhi.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The agreement allows filmmakers from both countries to share resources, including creative, technical, financial, and marketing support, which will benefit producers in India and Colombia.

      (ii) It aims to enhance India's soft power, create jobs in the film industry, and attract foreign investment by improving India’s reputation as a filming destination.

(iii) The agreement provides clear funding processes for film projects and seeks to boost the export of Indian films to Colombia.
