The Department of Posts and Amazon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve logistics and e-commerce in India.

On October 4, 2024, the Department of Posts (DoP), part of the Ministry of Communications, and Amazon Seller Services Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance logistics and e-commerce in India.


      - This agreement builds on their previous partnership, utilizing India's extensive postal network for sending and receiving packages.

      - The MoU was signed by Kushal Vashist, General Manager (Parcel Directorate) at DoP, and Venkatesh Tiwari, Director (Operations) at Amazon Seller Services, with Vandita Kaul, Secretary (Posts), present in New Delhi.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The MoU aims to explore joint opportunities in logistics and business growth, allowing Amazon to use the DoP's vast postal network for parcel deliveries across India.

      (ii) It includes key areas of cooperation, such as aligning logistics operations, sharing knowledge, and identifying capacity-sharing opportunities.

(iii) Both parties will conduct quarterly reviews to monitor the progress of their partnership and identify new ways to strengthen it.
