Two women Navy officers are set to embark on an eight-month journey to sail around the world.

Lieutenant Commander (Lt. Cdr) Dilna K. and Lt. Cdr Roopa A., two women officers of the Indian Navy (IN), have embarked on a journey to circumnavigate the globe aboard a sailboat named 'Navika Sagar Parikrama' on the Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini.


      - The second edition of the Navika Sagar Parikrama expedition was flagged off on October 2, 2024, at the Ocean Sailing Node, INS Mandovi, near Panaji, Goa, by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) Navika Sagar Parikrama is a maritime expedition organized by the Indian Navy that involves sailing around the world with a crew of women officers.

      (ii) The voyage will cover approximately 23,000 nautical miles and is expected to take around 240 days, traversing four continents, three oceans, and three challenging capes.

(iii) The first edition of this expedition took place in 2017.
