Japanese NGO Nihon Hidankyo has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2024.

The Japanese Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots movement of Hibakusha—survivors of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki—has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2024 by the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo, Norway.


      - The award recognizes their efforts to create a world free of nuclear weapons and their demonstration through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) Prize Amount: 11 million Swedish Kronor.

      (ii) The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death, a tradition that has been upheld since 1901.
