Union Cabinet Approves Proposals on October 9, 2024, Chaired by PM Narendra Modi.

On October 9, 2024, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved several significant proposals aimed at enhancing infrastructure and security.


      - The cabinet sanctioned the development of the world-class National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat, to be executed in two phases by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW).

      - Additionally, approved the construction of 2,280 km of roads in Rajasthan and Punjab, with an investment of ₹4,406 crore.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The cabinet also decided to continue the universal supply of Fortified Rice Kernels (FRK) under various Central Government schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), from July 2024 to December 2028, at a cost of ₹17,082 crore.

      (ii) In terms of national security, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved deals for the procurement of 31 MQ-9B High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) from General Atomics of the USA, along with the indigenous construction of two Nuclear Attack Submarines (SSN), further strengthening India’s defense capabilities.
