Union Health Minister JP Nadda addressed the 77th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the South-East Asia Region.

On October 7, 2024, Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW), addressed the 77th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Southeast Asia Region (SEARO) in New Delhi.


      - The WHO SEARO meeting included the election of office bearers, the establishment of a "Drafting Group for Resolutions and Decisions," the adoption of "Special Procedures" to regulate session conduct, and the approval of the provisional agenda.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) The 77th session of the Regional Committee (RC77) for Southeast Asia took place from October 7 to 9, 2024.

      (ii) In his inaugural address, Union Minister JP Nadda emphasized that India’s health system adopts a "whole of government" and "whole of society" approach to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC), focusing on strengthening primary healthcare and essential services.
