The United Nations (UN) International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) is celebrated worldwide on October 1 each year to acknowledge the vital contributions of older individuals, defined as those aged 65 and above.


      - October 1, 2024, marks the 34th anniversary of IDOP.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) The theme for IDOP 2024 is "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide."

      (ii) This theme emphasizes the urgent need to enhance care systems in response to the aging global population, focusing on the significant demographic shift toward older age groups.
