Veteran Indian industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Naval Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay Presidency, British India (now known as Mumbai).


      - Ratan Tata was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honor, in 2000, and the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honor, in 2008 by the Government of India for his outstanding contributions to trade and industry.

      - Karnataka Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday paid a heartfelt tribute to Ratan Tata, hailing him as a pioneer who transformed India's industry landscape and built a strong foundation for Indian industries.

     

Main Points:-   (i) .He was bestowed with the Oslo Business for Peace Award in 2010.

      (ii) Under Ratan Tata's leadership, Tata Motors launched the Tata Indica, India's first indigenously designed passenger car, in 1998.
