American biologists Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 2024.

Victor Ambros (an American developmental biologist) and Gary Bruce Ruvkun (an American molecular biologist) were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2024 by the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.


      - They were honored "for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation."

      - Ruvkun and Ambros discovered the first microRNA and published their findings in the journal Cell in 1993. This discovery sparked a scientific revolution. Their work has had a significant impact on scientists around the world, helping to guide research on diseases like cancer and diabetes.
