Tata Electronics and Taiwan's PSMC have finalized an agreement for technology transfer to establish India's first semiconductor fabrication plant.

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) has finalized a Definitive Agreement with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) for the establishment of India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat. This facility will be AI-enabled and built as a greenfield project.


      - PSMC will provide a comprehensive range of technologies and engineering support to facilitate the transfer of these technologies to the new fab in Gujarat.

      - The project entails a total investment of up to Rs 91,000 crores (USD 11 billion) and is expected to generate over 20,000 skilled jobs, both directly and indirectly.

     

Main Points:-   The semiconductor fab will produce chips for various applications, including Power Management Integrated Circuits (ICs), Display Drivers, Microcontroller Units (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, catering to the increasing demand in sectors such as AI, automotive, computing, data storage, and wireless communication.
