Meghalaya Signs MoU with Gates Foundation to Enhance Health and Agriculture.

The Government of Meghalaya (GoM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to improve health outcomes in the state. This collaboration will focus on maternal and newborn health, family planning, nursing education, and agriculture.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The four-year MoU will include regular monitoring and evaluation, with BMGF providing financial and technical support in twelve key areas, including anaemia, neonatal health, and nutrition. Meghalaya is the third Indian state, after Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, to partner with the Gates Foundation.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The agreement was signed by Sampath Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Meghalaya government, and M. Hari Menon from the Gates Foundation, in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Minister Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh.
