According to the ILO report, unemployment benefits and coverage in the Asia-Pacific region are lagging significantly, affecting vulnerable populations amidst ongoing economic challenges.


      - The Asia-Pacific region has 53.6% social protection coverage but spends only 11.8% of GDP, below the global average of 19.3%.

      - About 2.1 billion people remain unprotected from lifecycle and socio-economic risks, indicating uneven social protection progress.

     

Main Points:-   (i) The coverage rates varied significantly among populous countries, with India at 48.4%, China at 75.6%, and Bangladesh at 20.2%.
