The Maharashtra government on Monday approved a proposal to rename Pune's international airport as 'Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport'. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Eknath Shinde, with the proposal now set to be forwarded to the Centre for final approval.Chief minister Shinde announced the decision in an X post, along with updates on other schemes and benefits.


      The renaming aims to honor the contribution of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj to Maharashtra's cultural heritage.

      This decision will promote tourism and enhance the identity of Pune as a cultural destination in India.
