Ministry of Defence (MoD) Approves Indian Navy's ₹2,500 Crore Plan for Unmanned Surface Vessels.

National

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved a ₹2,500 crore plan for the Indian Navy to procure Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs). These autonomous vessels are expected to enhance the Navy's surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, particularly in areas requiring persistent maritime presence. The plan aligns with India’s vision of leveraging advanced technologies to boost its naval power and maritime security. Unmanned Surface Vessels will also be instrumental in reducing the risk to human lives during high-risk missions. This approval marks a significant step towards modernizing India's naval fleet and strengthening its coastal defense infrastructure.

The Unmanned Surface Vessels will enhance India's maritime monitoring in remote and difficult-to-access regions.

This initiative supports the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" vision by encouraging indigenous development of defense technologies.
