The Union Cabinet has approved the ₹2,000-crore 'Mission Mausam' aimed at reviving and preserving India's ancient maritime routes and cultural ties with over 39 countries. The project will focus on enhancing India's soft power through historical and cultural links, especially with countries in the Indian Ocean region. It aims to deepen cultural and economic ties while promoting archaeological research and maritime heritage. The mission will include activities like documentation, conservation, and showcasing of India's maritime traditions. The initiative will also boost tourism by highlighting India's rich cultural and historical heritage linked to its seafaring past.


      The mission will strengthen India's leadership in the Indian Ocean region through cultural diplomacy.

      Collaborative efforts with international scholars will enhance maritime archaeological research.
