The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a significant contract worth Rs 26,000 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the procurement of 240 AL-31FP aero engines. This contract is a crucial step in enhancing the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force, ensuring the maintenance and performance of its fleet of aircraft. The AL-31FP engines, known for their reliability and advanced technology, will support various aircraft types and contribute to India's defense readiness. The deal reflects ongoing efforts to bolster indigenous defense production and strengthen military capabilities in the region.


      The contract underscores the government's commitment to boosting indigenous defense capabilities and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers.

      HAL will be responsible for the production and delivery of high-performance engines, enhancing the Air Force’s fleet.
