The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to strengthen systems for fostering social change in rural areas. The partnership aims to enhance governance at the grassroots level by empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). Focus areas include child welfare, health, education, and overall development, with the goal of creating inclusive and sustainable communities. Through this collaboration, both parties seek to promote social awareness and mobilize communities towards positive behavioral changes, thereby improving the quality of life in rural India.

The collaboration emphasizes capacity building for local leaders to drive community-led development initiatives.

Special focus will be given to improving access to essential services like clean water, sanitation, and nutrition.
