Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Launches Vehicle Scrapping Policy to Phase Out Polluting Vehicles.

National

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced a new vehicle scrapping policy aimed at phasing out older, polluting vehicles from the roads. This initiative is designed to reduce air pollution and promote environmental sustainability. Under the policy, vehicles that are more than 15 years old and fail to meet emission standards will be eligible for scrapping. Owners of these vehicles will receive incentives for upgrading to newer, cleaner models. The move is expected to improve air quality and support the automotive industry by encouraging the adoption of advanced, eco-friendly technologies.

The policy includes financial incentives to encourage vehicle owners to switch to environmentally friendly alternatives.

Scrapping centers will be established nationwide to facilitate the disposal process of old vehicles.
