MoHFW Launches 2nd Phase of Nationwide Bi-Annual MDA Campaign 2024 to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis.

National

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has launched the second phase of its nationwide bi-annual Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign for 2024, aimed at eliminating Lymphatic Filariasis (LF). This initiative follows the success of the first phase and focuses on administering anti-filarial drugs to at-risk populations across the country. The campaign seeks to interrupt LF transmission, reduce the incidence of new cases, and ultimately eradicate the disease. Health workers will distribute medications in endemic areas, targeting millions of individuals to achieve a filaria-free India.

The MDA campaign aims to cover over 200 million people in endemic regions across the country. Health workers will use mobile teams to ensure coverage in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
