According to the World Development Report 2024, it may take India 75 years to reach one-quarter of the per capita GDP of the United States. The report highlights significant income disparities between developed and developing nations, emphasizing the challenges India faces in accelerating economic growth. Despite being one of the fastest-growing economies, India still lags far behind in terms of per capita income. The report calls for sustained economic reforms and investments in human capital to bridge this gap, warning that without significant efforts, the country may continue to trail behind global economic leaders.

The report suggests that India’s economic reforms need to be more aggressive to improve per capita GDP rapidly.

Income inequality between India and the US underscores the need for targeted policies to enhance economic growth.
