The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safe and efficient transportation of human organs across the country. These guidelines cover transportation through various modes, including air, road, and rail, ensuring that organs reach recipients in a timely manner while maintaining their viability. The SOPs outline the responsibilities of different stakeholders, including medical professionals, transport authorities, and law enforcement, to ensure seamless coordination. This move aims to enhance the success rate of organ transplants and improve patient outcomes by minimizing delays and preserving the quality of organs during transit.

The SOPs emphasize the importance of real-time monitoring during organ transport to prevent potential delays.

Special provisions are made for prioritizing organ transport during peak traffic or emergency situations.
