Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal has approved the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA)’s US$ 34 million (Rs. 284.19 crore) project to develop an 'Export-Import cum Domestic Agricultural Commodity-Based Processing & Storage Facility' on a PPP model. The facility, covering 67,422 square meters, aims to streamline logistics, reduce handling stages, and extend the shelf life of agricultural products. It is expected to enhance pricing for agricultural goods, create jobs, and support growth in the sector, benefiting farmers and exporters while fostering rural development.

It will handle exports of non-basmati rice, maize, spices, onions, and wheat and support meat and marine product exporters outside Mumbai.

The facility will feature advanced technology for efficient processing and storage of agricultural commodities.
