WMO and FAO Collaborate to Boost Agricultural Early Warning Systems.

Environment

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has joined forces with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to enhance early warning systems for the agriculture sector. This collaboration aims to improve the accuracy and timeliness of weather forecasts and climate information, helping farmers better prepare for extreme weather events and climate-related challenges. By integrating advanced meteorological data with agricultural practices, the initiative seeks to boost resilience in the farming community and secure food production. The partnership represents a significant step toward mitigating the impacts of climate change on global agriculture.

Improved early warnings will help mitigate crop losses due to unexpected weather events and climate variability.

The initiative will support sustainable agriculture by providing farmers with timely and relevant climate information.
