India,Marshall Islands sign MoU on development projects.

MOUs and Agreement

India on Monday signed an agreement with the Marshall Islands to provide an annual grant for four community development projects as part of New Delhi’s outreach to Pacific Island states. The move comes against the backdrop of the four members of the Quad – India, Australia, Japan and the US – stepping up their engagement with the Pacific Islands amid China’s efforts to increase its influence in the strategic region.

This agreement underscores India's commitment to bolstering ties with small island nations in the Pacific, aiming to enhance mutual cooperation in developmental initiatives.

The move by India also aims to counterbalance China's increasing influence in the region by fostering closer ties and cooperation with countries in the Pacific.
