IAS officer Sujata Saunik becomes Maharashtra’s first female Chief Secretary.

Appointment

Mrs. Saunik, a member of the 1987 IAS batch, was appointed by the coalition government after the retirement of Chief Secretary Nitin Kareer. He has been set for a one-year tenure before retiring in June next year. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were unanimously appointed, according to reports.


      Ms. Saunik brings extensive administrative experience and leadership to her new role.

      She is set to prioritize development and governance initiatives during her tenure.
