PhonePe Partners Up with LankaPay for UPI Payment in Sri Lanka .

PhonePe, a Bengaluru-based company, has announced that it has partnered with LankaPay to enable PhonePe UPI payments in the country. This partnership will allow Indian travelers to make UPI payments in Sri Lanka via the PhonePe app in Sri Lanka that will be facilitated by LankaPay National Payment Network. Indian travelers no longer need to carry cash and worry about currency conversion as the amount will be debited from their account in Indian currency. The launch event was attended by Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe and India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha.


      UPI was recently launched in Sri Lanka and Mauritius, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leaders from both countries.

      The growing popularity of UPI in India extends beyond daily essentials to high-end purchases like gadgets, appliances, and clothing, reflecting its widespread adoption for digital and cashless payments.
