Singapore's Lawrence Wong Sworn In As New PM In 2 Decades.

Wong, formerly deputy prime minister, was inaugurated at the Istana government office shortly after 8 pm local time (1200 GMT), to become the second person outside the Lee family to lead the affluent nation.Singapore swore in Lawrence Wong as the city-state's new prime minister in a ceremony broadcast live on television on Wednesday after Lee Hsien Loong stepped down following two decades in office.


      Wong's cabinet members, including predecessor Lee, were sworn in.

      Lee, 72, appointed as senior minister.

      Wong, a US-educated economist, effectively handled the Covid-19 crisis.
