As per International Organisation for Migration (IOM)' World Migration Report 2024, India received over USD 111 billion in 2022. First time India has surpassed the USD 100 billion milestone. South Asia, particularly India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, stands out for its substantial inflow of remittances. In 2022, Pakistan and Bangladesh claimed the sixth and eighth spots respectively, with Pakistan receiving nearly USD 30 billion and Bangladesh garnering around USD 21.5 billion. The biennial report recorded USD 831 billion in international remittances globally in 2022 with USD 647 billion of it, being received by low- and middle-income countries.


      In Report 2024, launched, the IOM revealed that India was the top recipient of remittances in 2022, with Mexico, China, the Philippines, and France rounding out the top five.

      In 2010, India received USD 53.48 billion in remittances, which grew to USD 68.91 billion in 2015, USD 83.15 billion in 2020, and ultimately USD 111.22 billion in 2022.
